Activate God’s Nature!

We are excited about beginning a new year, and re-focusing on prayer and fasting during the first 30 days. Cornerstone has been in focused prayer together for 11 days now, and we are already seeing amazing results. Answered prayers, miracles and people being drawn to the Lord are just a few of the great things God is doing in our midst. Since our focus is on prayer, I want to share something I’ve learned: when you worship God for WHO HE IS, it activates His nature. Below is a list you can take to prayer to help you worship Him for Who He is. They are the “names” of God (more like descriptions, actually) that are given throughout the Old Testament:

A. Eloistic combinations:
1. El-Ohim: putter forth of power, exceeding strong one
2. El-Elyon: most high God
3. El-Olam: everlasting God
4. El-Shaddai: almighty God
B. Jehovistic combinations: (Jehovah-______):
1. Jireh: the Lord will see (to it), provider
2. Nissi: banner, victory
3. Shalom: peace, prince of peace, passeth understanding
4. Rapha: healer
5. Shammah: the Lord is there
6. Sabioth: Lord of hosts, strong deliverer
7. Tsidkenu: righteousness
8. Kadesh: sanctification
9. Rohi: shepherd, good shepherd, chief shepherd
10. Jesus: the Lord has become our salvation!
C. Characteristics:
1. Omnipotent: all powerful
2. Omniscient: all knowing
3. Omnisapient: all wise
4. Omnipresent: all present, everywhere present

When you worship God for Who He is, His nature is activated in your life! For example, Paul and Silas, bound in prison, “prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed” (Acts 16:25-26). They simply worshipped God, not asking for deliverance! But they activated Jehovah-Sabioth (strong deliverer) by their worship, and were thus set free from prison! Here is the principle you can take to prayer this week: BELIEVE Who He is…OBEY what He says…RECEIVE what He does! Rediscover the power of prayer in your life, by activating His nature.
